MESSAGE TO OUR PATIENTS
• Medicare is establishing a new system
for paying Ambulatory Surgical Centers (endoscopy centers)
beginning next year which will dramatically decrease the level
of reimbursement.
• We believe these changes could reduce
choices available for patients requiring endoscopy procedures
and put many GI facilities out of business.
• This change is designed to simply cut
costs without any regard to fairness using a one-size fits
all approach.
• Medicare payments for many GI services
have already dropped more than 50%.
• The new policy will put our reimbursements
in the ASC at 22% below our costs.
• You and we deserve better – these
changes make it less likely that our present facilities will
remain available. It ignores the value and convenience of
our hospital-type facility that meets all credentialing and
regulatory criteria required for maximal safety.
• Our practice will do everything in our
power to maintain the same high quality-patient oriented practice
that you have come to appreciate. We need your help to do
so. Please write or call your Senators and Members of Congress
to tell them of your concerns.
